Catching-up

Our family just went through 3 of the worst weeks ever...for us.  Everyone was on antibiotics at least once with severe cases of strep, trips to the children's hospital, followed by week-long bouts with stomach flu.  We're basically better at this point, but I got sick enough that I lost nearly 20 lbs.  So far, I can tell I've lost strength, but I'm yet to assess how much.  I hope that over the next few weeks, I can slowly crawl back to where I should be!

Before the illness break, I did hit a solid deadlift/overhead workout, training some kids I go to church with.  We also hit a pretty intense agility/sprinting day.

After that, I cruised into antibiotics, and took-off over 2 weeks.

On Saturday, I got back at it with Dave and Brian:
Seated overhead lockouts up to 335 lbs
Deadlift from blocks up to about 475 for reps (double-overhand)
We also hit some light abdominal work

Yesterday was all pressing:
Benching up to 365
4 sets of dips
Superset with medicine ball/pushups/abdominal roller
Some light triceps work
Some shoulder stretching and rehab work

Work has also been hectic, so I'm just hoping to have some time to lift tomorrow as I continue to work my way back!

Thanks for reading, and look for some more frequent posts, soon!

Cardio day

I hit a cardio day last week, and another yesterday.  I hurt my arms cleaning the log two weeks ago, so I haven't been lifting.  I was also set to compete in a show on Saturday but hurt to much to do that then.  SO, cardio has been the name of the game lately.  Here is a quick video of one of the shuttle runs that we did:

Approximate total distance: 2600 yards
50 yards each of the following
High-steps
Butt-kicks
Slides
External/Internal rotations
Long jumps
40 yards of Jumping Drills
5 x 55 yard shuttle run
Intermittent jogging/running/cool-downs

I also stretched at the beginning and end.

Last week

I'm beyond behind on updating.  I've been pulled in too many directions lately and as work has continued to get busier and busier, I've barely gotten the workouts in, let alone had time to post them.  That said, here's what I've been up too:

We've been pulling and pressing from different heights, nearly every workout.  This is helping me round-out some weaker areas.  565 came up a lot easier than normal on Saturday's deadlift, and the log felt pretty good.  Although, I didn't have my good cleaning belt, so I basically ended up curling the 260, so my biceps are incredibly sore now.

We have a competition this Saturday in Lehi, so that should be fun.  Resting this week and going easy.

Thanks for reading.
